Draft of History of Eloise Hospital [Detroit, Michigan].

Record group 62-21 consists of a draft (ca. 1933) of the 2nd edition of the book History of Eloise: Wayne County House, Wayne County Asylums, by Stanislas M. Keenan, which was originally published in 1913. The draft document includes photographs of physical plant and staff, transcripts of the addition, plus editorial changes of the of the first edition. In 1982, Keenan and Alvin Clark published A history of Wayne County Infirmary, Psychiatric, and General Hospital complex at Eloise, Michigan, 1832-1982. This publication evidently used the draft described above. However, it is unclear how much of the original draft was used since Clark's update is 156 pages (less voluminous than the draft).
